Jesus, The Light Of The World

The Son gives light.

God is the light of this world and those of us who follow Him, won't have to walk in darkness because we will have the light that leads to life. John 8:12. As I was reading this verse, two things stood out to me. One of them being the language of the verse. It states "If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness". Have to, "You won't have to walk in darkness". We all have a choice, we have free will. We have to choose to walk in the light of Christ daily. There are many of us both believers and unbelievers who have seen the light of Christ but somehow still walk in darkness. We walk without the guidance from the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit reminded me that if there is a light that leads to life then there's also a darkness that leads to death. The Good News and Word of God are very clear. There are two roads one can choose to take. The road that is filled with the presence of God and will lead to life eternal. Or a road that is dark, evil, destructive, harmful and leads to death (hell).

Only the light of Christ has the power to uncover darkness. It uncovers, reveals, and exposes every lie, scheme, plot, and trap of the devil. 1 John 1: 4-5. The devil is the father of lies, and he plans to steal, kill and destroy. God's purpose for us is to give us a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10 God plans is to give us hope and a future and not for harm. Jeremiah 29:11

As we learn about the Son who gives Light, here's what He says about you.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

You take part in the light of Christ. You're important. You're needed. You're valued. You're loved and cared for. Your light is needed, so don’t dim it, don’t shrink.

This world has enough darkness. Now is your time to stand firm for the Kingdom of God. Don’t waver. Don't compromise. For it was hearing the Good News of Christ, seeing the Light, and knowing the Truth that saved us. Romans 10:17.

How can anyone hear the Good News of Christ if no one is speaking? How can anyone see the Light that leads to life if everyone's light is dim? Let’s share the Gospel and live our lives in a way that represents the love of Christ for all to see the glory of God.
